There are moments in every Christian’s life when silence feels safer than speaking. We hesitate because we fear rejection, criticism, or misunderstanding. Yet the gospel has never advanced because God’s people remained silent. Throughout Scripture, those who trusted God found the courage to stand when it mattered most.
After being threatened for preaching Christ, the apostles did not pray for easier circumstances. Instead, they prayed, “And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence” (Acts 4:29). Their concern was not personal comfort but faithful courage. God answered that prayer, and they continued proclaiming His Word with boldness.
Biblical boldness is not arrogance. It is not harshness, pride, or a desire to win arguments. True boldness is the quiet confidence that comes from knowing God and trusting His truth. It speaks with conviction while treating others with gentleness and respect. It refuses to compromise the gospel, yet never forgets that every soul is precious in the sight of God.
There will be times when standing for Christ costs us friendships, opportunities, or acceptance. Even then, we must remember that our highest calling is not to please men but to please the Lord. The opinions of this world will one day fade away, but God’s truth will endure forever.
Ask yourself honestly: “Am I more concerned about God’s approval or man’s approval?” Courage grows when our desire to honor Christ becomes greater than our fear of what others may think. The boldest Christians are not those with the strongest personalities but those with the deepest confidence in their Lord.
So let this be our prayer today: “Teach me, Lord, to be bold.” Help me to speak Your truth with love, to live my faith without apology, and to stand with courage whenever opportunities arise. May my confidence never rest in myself but always in the One who has promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
May God continue to teach us, shape us, and make us more like His Son.
