Teach Me Lord to Trust You
Trust is easy when life unfolds according to our plans. It is much more difficult when prayers seem unanswered, circumstances change unexpectedly, or the road ahead appears uncertain. Yet those are often the very moments when God teaches His children what genuine faith looks like.
The Bible never promises a life free from hardship, but it repeatedly assures us that God is faithful. Solomon wrote, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Trust requires surrender. It means believing that God’s wisdom is greater than our own, even when we cannot see the outcome.
Abraham could not see the destination when he left his homeland. Joseph could not see how years of suffering would accomplish God’s purposes. David could not see when his trials would end. Jesus, however, knew exactly what awaited Him, yet He willingly submitted Himself to the Father’s will. Whether we cannot see the future or know exactly what lies ahead, the lesson remains the same: God is worthy of our complete trust.
We are often tempted to trust what we can see, calculate, or control. Faith calls us to something greater. It calls us to trust the character of God. His promises do not fail. His love does not diminish. His wisdom is never lacking. Though we may not always understand His providence, we can trust the God who has revealed Himself to us through His Word and, above all, through the gift of His Son.
Perhaps today you are carrying burdens that seem too heavy or questions that remain unanswered. Remember that the same God who has been faithful throughout history remains faithful today. He has not abandoned His people, nor will He begin with you.
So let this be our daily prayer: “Teach me, Lord, to trust You.” Not only when life is calm, but also when storms arise. Not only when I understand, but especially when I do not. For the One who gave His own Son for us has already proven Himself worthy of our complete confidence.
May God continue to teach us, shape us, and make us more like His Son.
